APPROVAL OF AFFILIATION AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF NORTH PORT, FLORIDA THROUGH ITS NORTH PORT FIRE RESCUE DEPARTMENT AND THE SCHOOL BOARD OF SARASOTA COUNTY, FLORIDADescription The School Board offers to enrolled students a Health Science Program, and The City of North Port, Florida through its North Port Fire Rescue Department, manages a Fire Rescue Department. The School Board desires to provide to its students a clinical learning experience through the application of knowledge and clinical skills in actual patient-centered situations in a Fire Rescue Department and The City of North Port, Florida through its North Port Fire Rescue Department has agreed to make its facility available to School Board for such purposes.

11. AMENDMENT TO AGREEMENT BETWEEN COMMUNITY REHAB ASSOCIATES, INC. AND THE SCHOOL BOARD OF SARASOTA COUNTY, FLORIDA FOR PHYSICAL/OCCUPATIONAL/SPEECH THERAPY SERVICESDescription This is an Amendment to an existing Agreement with Community Rehab Associates, Inc. for the increased need of services in the area of speech language therapy. The positions became vacant due to staff obtaining family medical leave.

The School Board offers to enrolled students various health care and hospitality related programs at District Schools including the Sarasota County Technical Institute and District operated secondary schools; and the Sarasota County Public Hospital District d/b/a Sarasota Memorial Hospital and the Sarasota Memorial Health Care System offers clinical education experiences. The School Board desires to provide to its students a clinical learning experience and the Hospital has agreed to make its facility available to School Board for such purposes.

13. APPROVAL OF THE SARASOTA HIGH SCHOOL FIELD TRIP TO CHICAGO, ILLINOIS ON MAY 23, 2014 THROUGH MAY 26, 2014Description This is an inter-curricular annual Speech and Debate competition in which students will compete with other high school students from around the country.
Recommendation That the Sarasota High School field trip to Chicago, Illinois on May 23, 2014 through May 26, 2014 be approved.

14. APPROVAL OF EXPULSION CASE NO. 13-120Description The student listed in Expulsion Case No. 13-120, is in violation of an accepted Expulsion Settlement Agreement for alternative school placement. On 11/08/2012, the student listed in Expulsion Case No 13-120, violated School Board Policy 5.30 and 5.34 Possession of Stolen Property. It is the recommendation of the Superintendent, that the student be expelled from the Sarasota County Schools until 6/2/2014.

APPROVAL TO AWARD BID #14-0288 FOR THEATRICAL STAGE EQUIPMENT, RIGGING, LIGHTING SYSTEMS AND RELATED STAGE ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT, INSPECTION, MAINTENANCE, AND REPAIR SERVICESDescription A bid to provide 'Theatrical Stage Equipment, Rigging, Lighting Systems and Related Stage Electrical Equipment, Inspection, Maintenance, and Repair Services was received on March 6, 2014. The bid of Heritage Product Resources, Inc., met the advertised specifications and falls within budgetary guidelines. This bid is for a period of one year with the option to renew for two additional one-year periods. The funds for these purchases are contained in the transfer from capital budget allocated to the Facilties Services Department.

APPROVAL TO AWARD BID #14-0287 FOR FIRE ALARM INSPECTION AND MAINTENANCE SERVICEDescription Bids to provide 'Fire Alarm Inspection and Maintenance Service' were received from three vendors on March 5, 2014. The bid of Commercial Electrical Systems Company was the best low bid meeting the advertised specifications based on a sealed scenario. This bid is for a period of one year with the option to renew for two additional one-year periods. Funds for these purchases are contained in the transfer from capital budget allocated to the Facilities Services Department.
Recommendation That the bid of Commercial Electrical Systems Company, to provide 'Fire Alarm Inspection and Maintenance Service' in an amount not to exceed $400,000.00, be approved as presented.

APPROVAL OF UPDATE #1 TO THE 2014 ANNUAL CERTIFICATION OF PROFESSIONALS FOR CONSTRUCTION RELATED SERVICESDescription The recommended professionals have submitted request for annual certification by the School Board to provide professional construction related services for Sarasota County School projects. These submissions are in accordance with School Board Policy #7.71. The initial list was Board approved on 1/7/2014 (Item #30). The newly added firms are identified in the enclosure at the end of the initial listing. Upon Board approval, the pertinent date for these submissions will be incorporated to the existing list.

New Business31. APPROVAL FOR THE RENEWAL OF PROPERTY INSURANCE PROGRAM EFFECTIVE MAY 1, 2014 THROUGH MAY 1, 2015Description
The renewal modifies the expiring program by increasing the insured loss limit from $70,000,000 to $100,000,000 and removing all self-insured retention beyond the deductible to the $100 million limit. Policy coverages for multiple sub-limits have also increased as identified in the attachment. The total annual cost [premium + regulatory fees] is $3,183,905.03. This represents a premium decrease of $404,630 or 11.60% from the existing program. The decrease in premiums is due to a decrease in the total insurable values of property in the District of 2.166% and a rate decrease of 9.65%. Property insurance premiums are paid by the local Capital Improvement Fund.
Recommendation That the property insurance renewal effective May 1, 2014 through May 1, 2015, be approved by the Board as presented.
